This week the Fire Department responded to eighteen (18) calls for service. Ten (10) calls were within the City of Jacksboro, and eight (8) calls were in the County. The calls included eight (8) EMS, four (4) motor vehicle accidents, one (1) environmental, two (2) grass fires, one (1) fire alarm, and two (2) calls were dispatched but canceled enroute.
The Jack County Clerk has collected all the items that have been donated to be included in the 150th Anniversary time capsule. We sealed the time capsule, and we will bury it below the bell on the Courthouse lawn next week when we take down the Christmas tree.
Distribution and Collection began the week working on the new water line on Depot, however the rock saw that we rented had mechanical issues. We are waiting on the rental company to make repairs. They also responded to twenty (20) calls for service, as well as completing rereads on several water meters.
In addition to delivering three (3) trash dumpsters, the Street Department continued installing the new street signs and making repairs to the milling machine. After repairs were completed, they milled across the old lake dam in order to perform routine maintenance in anticipation of our next dam inspection.
The Parks Department helped the water department on Depot Street at the beginning of the week and also conducted maintenance on Twin Lakes Activity Center. Additionally, they built storage boxes so we can take down the Christmas tree next week. They also cleaned out the storage container where we keep all the Christmas decorations throughout the year.
As a reminder, City offices will be closed on Monday, January 19th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
We finalized plans for the Region V TML Quarterly meeting. Jacksboro is hosting the meeting next Thursday, January 22nd at the Fort Richardson Dining Hall.
Next Friday several of us will be attending the Friends of Fort Richardson Annual Meeting. The City is a member of the Friends of Fort Richardson.
Our Employee Spotlight of the Week is Albert Aguilar. Albert is the Crew Chief for Distribution and Collection. His department is responsible for all maintenance and repairs of water and wastewater lines. He is also responsible for all service calls and water meter reading. Albert has extensive knowledge on mechanical issues and is a huge asset to the City.
Our next City Council meeting is scheduled for January 26, 2026, at 5:30 PM.
Respectfully,
Mike S.
