Weekly Activity Report (WAR)

Posted on: January 2, 2026

[ARCHIVED] Weekly Activity Report December 29, 2025 - January 2, 2026.

WAR 2026

This week was a semi-short week, as the City was closed on January 1st to celebrate the New Year.

The City Secretary has been busy creating a 2026 Calendar to notify businesses around the square on the dates that Archer and Church Streets will be closed.  She has contacted all the businesses and will provide updates for any new events.  She also worked on planning the TML Region V meeting that Jacksboro will host on January 22, 2026.  Additionally, she is working on updates to the Personnel Policy Manual.

The Street Department replaced a large number of street signs with the new purple signs.  They also continued to prep a portion of Jack Street for asphalt once we receive the material.  The Street Department also assisted TXDOT by removing loose gravel off of South Main Street.  A gravel truck apparently spilled some gravel when exiting the road to the crusher, and it created a safety hazard.

Parks and Recreation spent time considering additional events that could be held at the Twin Lakes Activity Center.  We currently only have eighty-four (84) active members.

The Police Department offered a position to an individual.  That officer will be sworn in at the Council Meeting on January 12th.  We also have an officer that will begin the Academy in January.

Distribution and Collection responded to thirteen (13) calls for service, to include water leaks, wastewater issues, or trash receptacles.  Additionally, they continued to install the new water line on Depot Street.

The Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer completed six (6) inspections this week, in addition to assisting the Animal Control Officer on various projects.

Our Employee of the Week is Brent Brooker.  Brent is one of our most tenured employees and is an expert operator on all our heavy equipment.  He works in Distribution and Collection, but he is always ready and willing to assist any other department if needed.

Our first City Council meeting of the new year is January 12, 2026, at 5:30 PM.

Respectfully,
Mike S.
